The Tamanu Beach Hotel, on a white sandy beach between Arutanga and the airport, offers 22 thatched bungalows. Children under 12 are not accommodated here. Only one unit actually faces the lagoon, the others face each other. Only the older units have cooking facilities but a restaurant is on the premises. There's a sunset beach barbecue on Sunday. A bar is next to the swimming pool. Bicycles and kayaks are lent free to guests. This compact resort is run by local politician Mike Henry and all of the employees are his relatives. The Tamanu Beach is off-limits to outsiders, so don't bother trying to drop in for a drink.
Between Tamanu Beach and Paradise Cove, Etu Moana Beach Villas has eight luxury self-catering bungalows including breakfast, bicycles, kayaks, and airport transfers. The thatched units are nicely spaced along an excellent beach and a swimming pool is also provided.
Aitutaki Seaside Lodges at the northern end of Aitutaki's west coast hotel strip has three spacious self-catering bungalows.
