Avarua Entertainment

The Empire Theater in Avarua projects feature films in two separate halls nightly at 1930 and 2000.

The most famous watering hole on the island is the historic Banana Court in central Avarua, in what was once a hostel for expatriate workers. This place just isn't what it used to be, but it still opens Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday 2000-2400 and Friday 1600-0200. Wednesday and Friday are the big nights here with live music after 2130. Don't order food there.

T. J.'s Nightclub, next to BECO Hardware Store behind The Café in Avarua, opens Thursday to Saturday around 2030. There's a DJ and disco dancing. It's popular with the local teenagers, and dress regulations are in force to maintain standards.
