Renting an entire house by the week or month can be excellent value, and due to the outflow of Cook Islanders to New Zealand in the late 1990s, there are lots of places available. Advertisements for furnished houses are often published in the classified section of the Cook Islands News; otherwise watch for signs around the island or ask at Cook Islands Tourism Corporation. Be aware of security when choosing a place as break-ins (usually by local teenagers) are not unknown here.
Rarotonga Realty, upstairs in Ingram House, rents furnished houses on the beach with a four-night minimum stay.
Jetsave Travel books the Studio at Muri Beach Cottages. Most of their house rentals are through the internet (minimum rental one week) and their website lists many options.
You could also try Shekinah Homes, between the Paradise Inn and the Portofino Restaurant, which handles rentals at 30 properties.
